Summary: I consulted as a Product Manager for a fortune 500 startup incubated company PredictBGL in identifying the potential problems in the mobile app and website by conducting Usability testing. We carried out survey with the existing customers to provide customer insights to them and helping them understand the target customer and their usage. Competitor analysis helped them to position themselves in the market and FB ads with new headlines increased their CTR to 4.305%

The following are some of the deliverables I made for PredictBGL.

USER TESTING:

HYPOTHESIS
The product is fine as it is.
The product is simple and easy to use.
The product is easy to understand and makes sense.
EXPERIMENT
User testing with 6 students from UXDI. We asked for people who had some connection with diabetes.

Scenarios that we tested were based on some background interviewing about their diabetes experience either as a patient or a carer.

PASS / FAIL / METRICS
Fail: Empirical evidence showed that the hypothesis was defeated.
No one proceeded in completing all the requested actions without prompting from the tester.
No one used the home screen to get BGL readings tracking data (a key feature of the product and unique selling proposition.
No one asked about the prediction feature even though it is a label on the home screen or explored how to do this during their test session.

RESULTS
Users had difficulty in navigating through the screens to complete their actions.
Specifically relating to:
Confusion about which part of the buttons were clickable
Confusion about once data was entered onto the screen whether it was submitted into app
